DAY 1 : IN THE COUNTRY OF BACCHUS

Late afternoon arrival at the hotel in central Libourne, located in the heart of your excursion program. Welcome, settling in, dinner and night.


DAY 2 : BORDEAUX – FARM OF FORGOTTEN VEGEABLES (110 KM)

Departure with your guide for the Farm of Forgotten Vegetables, a farm located near Libourne, as well as a cannery and a most surpising “amusement park”. The farm grows, markets and develops hundreds of forgotten vegetables, plants and fruits : Wild Nettle, Dandelion, Sorrel, Bladder Cherry, Elder, Perigord Verjus, Red and Pattypan Squash, Purslane.Tasting and 11 o’clock departure for a visit of Bordeaux, lunch then a tour of the city and a walk around Old Bordeaux : Notre Dame church – exterior of the Grand Theatre – the 18th century Place de la Bourse - the St Pierre quarter and the 15th century Porte Cailhau. Back to the hotel, dinner and night.


DAY 3 : CRUISE ON THE ARCACHON BASIN - CAP FERRET - DUNE OF PILAT (250 KM)

Departure for the Arcachon Basin. Boarding for a one-and-a-quarter hour cruise to Bird Island, the Oyster Beds, the Cap Ferret peninsula with a view of the Dune of Pilat, the tallest sand dune in Europe. Lunch in a restaurant near the sea then guided visit of the seaside resort Arcachon, its villas, its history, its recent developments, and a walk on the Dune of Pilat. Back to the hotel, dinner and night.


DAY 4 : HISTORIC SAINT EMILION & TASTING (50 KM)

Departure from the hotel after breakfast for a guided discovery of a great wine capital of the world:Saint-Emilion. For the delight of your eyes, explore the landscapes of the Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion. During a tour your guide will explain the characteristics of the Saint-Emilion vineyard, its history, its chateaux, its vines and the know-how of its wine-makers. A rare encounter in a chateau with a winegrower, symbol of the living aspect of wine production, whose vineyard was the first world-wide to have been rated under cultural landscapes as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. This also includes the medieval town of Saint-Emilion. Visit of the cellars, and to stimulate your taste buds a tasting is of course on the program ! You will be welcomed in thebeautiful wine-pickers’ room for a lunch prepared by the Village Inn. This will be the opportunity for you to taste the different wines of the chateau, always cultivated with respect for the land and in the spirit of eight generations of family tradition. At the end of the meal and in order to understand the history and growth of the town of Saint-Emilion, follow your guide through small alleys and secret passageways, from the cloisters of the collegiate church to the ramparts, discover Saint-Emilion otherwise. An itinerary to better get to know and understand the major phases of development of the town from its origins to today. Underground monuments such as the hermitage-chapel of the monolithic Trinity church are included in your visit. Back to the hotel, dinner and night.


DAY 5 : THE GIRONDE ESTUARY – TASTING OF PINEAU- GROTTOS OF MESCHERS - TALMONT SUR GIRONDE (280 KM)

Morning departure for the emblematic places on the shores of the Gironde estuary, its ports. Lots of light for photo enthusiasts, with picturesque scenes of square-nets, those famous square fishing nets, suspended from carrelets (fishing huts on stilts). Visit to a producer of Pineau enhanced by a tasting, an excellent appetiser before your meal at Meschers, then a boat trip along the famous cliffs and grottos that dot the coast. Back on land, guided tour of Talmont sur Gironde, a village of low house and tiny streets where hollyhocks bloom. Sainte-Radegonde church overlooking the Gironde is without a doubt the most renowned postcard of the Saintonge region. Back to the hotel, dinner and night.


DAY 6 : DAY OF TERROIRS DU MEDOC (200 KM)

Departure at 9.00 a.m. for the Medoc, premier venue for wine growing in the Bordeaux region with its world renowned vintage. Arrival at the château Lalande d'Auvion where a visit of the property and an epicurean tasting will be offered, abundantly commented by its owner, followed by lunch in his home. Your afternoon will proceed with the visit of a grand cru classé 1855 of the Magaux appellation :château Giscours, Kirwan or Siran a very emotional moment for connoisseurs ! … Back at the end of the day to your hotel along the main roads of the Bordeaux vineyards. Dinner and night at the hotel.
